Ross Beresford - Classical Guitarist

After careers in software development and crossword editing, I am now focused on a lifelong passion — music.

I am a keen amateur classical guitarist and compose pieces that are accessible to the intermediate-level player. I’m often inspired by the rural setting of New England where I live and study.

My main historical influences are Fernando Sor, who drew me into the world of classical guitar; Francisco Tárrega, the Romantic era composer of works such as Recuerdos de la Alhambra; and Agustín Barrios, who composed pieces of exquisite beauty.

Among living composers for classical guitar, I most admire Andrew York, Jorge Morel, and Alfonso Montes.

I live in Brattleboro, Vermont, and am a member of the Boston Classical Guitar Society. I attend the ECU Summer Guitar Workshop and the Creative Musician’s Retreat at the Walden School. You can hear many of my pieces on the Media page.
